I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Setting a Variable to be used across multiple files.

    I love this app. It replaced the majority of the reasons why I have spreadsheets. I would love to see a way to set a value of a variable and make it global. Meaning I could use that value in a different file.

    • Inline graphs ala other notebooks (Python/Jupyter, Mathematica, etc.)

      The graph panel / sidebar presentation is generally icky. The program itself is GREAT --- the language is great, it's all great. Except for visualization.

      • Support inline tables

        I find trying to put tabular data into a document in a way that makes sense quite difficult. Various markdown flavors support this.

        • 3D Plot

          Please do a 3D plotting- function, for functions like z(x,y) = x^2 + y^2 etc. So you can see your function in 3D.

            • Make it work with Bear/ DayOne both support markdown

              Calca concept is brilliant as was looking for something like that for long time. It would be super nice if i could easily export the notes from calca to Bear and / or Day One.

              • Derivating twice and plotting glitch

                When trying to derivate like this:
                f= x^3 + 4x^2 - 5x + 1
                der(f(x),x)=h
                der(der(f(x),x),x) = j
                f => x^3 + 4 x^2 - 5 x + 1
                h => 3 x^2 + 8 x - 5
                j => 6 x + 8
                plot (f,j,h, -5..5)

                The h function won't plot.
                Tried unnesting the derivations as well but it not help.
                Please fix this.
                Great program by the way!

                                    • Adding onto the value stored in variables

                                      Having the ability to add to the value in a variable would be helpful. As I come from a CS background that was one of my first thoughts when picking up this app.

                                      One of the first things I tried to use this app for was keeping scores for a project I was working on. I defined some 'variables' assigned a value, then tried to update the value using an incrementer. Since it didn't work I am suggesting that here.
                                      EX.
                                      ChangingVar = 0
                                      ChangingVar +1 //or something to that effect
                                      ChangingVar = 1

                                      • Create a plugin/module/extensibility/customization framework.

                                        Because google's search engine is not the top of the line for scientific or technical or knowledge-based calculations. To that effect I would love if WolframAlpha's knowledge computation engine (URL = hhtp://www.wolframalpa.com) or MathWorld hosted on wolfram.com's servers (URL = http://mathworld.wolfram.com) couldbe included in calca's information lookup function. As well if the user has private well-structured local databases an API could be provided to query said information.
